disconnected servers

Hi,

As a result of the deployment of our new Gigabit Ethernet backbone equipment, all Unix severs will be disconnected from the network for 12 hours. I would expect to see a network disaster message on the console. What else will/could happen that needs attention. Please, advise.

Thanks,
Elena.

Re: disconnected servers

Elena,

We just moved our HP-UX servers to gigabit last weekend with no problem. I had expected that I might have to reboot them to get them to re-negotiate, but the auto-negotiation worked fine and they're now running happily at 1000 full-duplex auto-negotiate.

Re: disconnected servers

well if you have any Serviceguard clusters, and you do not first halt them with cmhaltcl, you could see possible TOC'ing of nodes dependant upon the configuration of these clusters.

Just a thought
