Diskless Server?
Is it possible to boot a rx1620 over lan?
I don't want to install the Server over Lan.
I wan't to run it completly from a NAS Filer (Netapp).
The local Harddisc should only be used for swap.
With Linux it would be possible with dhcp and tftpboot.
Has anyone tryed it with HPUX11.23?
Bye, Peter

Re: Diskless Server?
Peter,
I don't see why not. People put their boot disk on SAN/NAS all the time. Just install the O/S on the NAS and point your boot path to it.

Re: Diskless Server?
With the right fiber card, that machine can boot off of a SAN. It can boot off an Ignite server on the LAN to get an install image, but I don't think you can actually boot it over the lan for normal operations.

Re: Diskless Server?
Booting from SAN is no Problem, i know.
Most of my Boxes are using this feature.
But from LAN it would be a little more tricky.
I found nothing that helps me.
until 10.30 there was a product NFS-Cluster that seems to goes in that direction in need.
