DLT 7000

Hi everyone,
I have a defective DLT 7000. It shows up in ioscan as QUANTUM DLT 7000, is this a generic DLT or is there HP firmware installed? Will any DLT work or do I need an HP replacement? Thanks in advance

Re: DLT 7000

As far as I know, it IS a Quantum drive with an HP label and part number.

Re: DLT 7000

You know its deffective how?

it says NO_HW on ioscan.

Then yes, check cables, termination, scsi, maybe run mstm or cstm to test and arrange replacement.

If it shows up on ioscan as claimed why not insf -e and try to use the device?

The firmware issue may or may not stop you from actually using the device.

Re: DLT 7000

In general, any DLT will work. I have 2 DLT7000's in an HP library and they show up as "QUANTUM DLT7000". Drives in a StorageTek Library also show up as "QUANTUM DLT7000".

The only thing to watch out for is that you don't mix LVD SCSI with HVD SCSI. There are also a few cases where non-HP components will operate just fine but STM will have problems querying them.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
