Solution
HI Mark,
Here error indicating that disk ie removed so product is in unknown state.but i suggest have a look on syslog messages.
Reason:
dmesg used to collect system diagnostic messages to form error log.dmesg looks in a system buffer for recently printed diagnostic messages and prints them on the standard output. The messages are those printed by the system when unusual events occur.
---->The system error message buffer is of small, finite size. dmesg is run only every few minutes, so there is no guarantee that all error messages will be logged.
Thanks & Regards
Reshma

Re: dmesg log
Hi:
The 'dmesg' buffer is a finite circular buffer used to hold critical kernel diagnostic messages.
There is no timestamp associated with the message and what you see at any time could be very, very old.
If you like, you can run 'dmesg' with an '-' as an argument. This causes 'dmesg' to write only *new* messages since its last execution. Usually one 'cron's every 10-minutes to a log of its own, like:
date >> /var/adm/messages
/usr/sbin/dmesg - >> /var/adm/messages
Regards!

Re: dmesg log
Hello Mark
It seems that any disk was removed from the system,as we have seen most of the time dmesg has error which is too old hence check syslog and try to find disk information,if disk is not in use remove device file also to avoid this error or
if disk in used then contact HP to restore disk.
Regards
Ashish
