DTC 16TN problem

I have a dtc16tn controlling two Intermec 9154 crossbar controllers that each control 7 barcode scanners and interface with an application on an HP9000. I think the dtc16tn has lost the configuration for one of the crossbar controllers and I am unable to find how to open a configuration session to reset/check settings on the controller. I seem to have some but not all of the manuals that were provided when this system was installed several years ago. I have taken a couple HP UNIX admin courses, but my experience is limited. I have tried dtcdiag and dtcconfig commands, but I cannot seem to get the syntax right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DTC 16TN problem

Hi Paul.

We have over 15 DTC 16 TN in our organization.
To configure/reconfigure the DTC we run dtcconfig-->Modify DTC configuration -->Insert DTC_name--> Rear Panel Configuration form, in Board field insert "b" in port number insert the port number where are attached your peripheral --> Press F5 and select Configure Port Parameters , in this form you put all the general configuration of the port. Withn F4 save the changes, With F8 exit whitout save chages.

In the Rear Panel Configuration if you press F5, and select Enable Port Options ... the field Enable Switching isn?t selected, so the connection with the peripheral is directed.

When you finish to make changes and exit to the shell, don?t forget to reset the port/ports that change, the command is: dtcreset dtc_name b Port_number

don?t forget the "b" in the command.

Sorry for my poor english.

Re: DTC 16TN problem

First of all you have to be logged in as root.

Then,

#dtcconfig

Then a screen change and you are prompted as per the above respose from Pepe.

But you should know that it may be hard to get f5 to respond. On my setup I have to pres 'control' 'f' then press the number '5'.

When the dtcconfig first starts it asks you for a choice. Select 'modify DTC'.

Then if you do not know the name of the dtc you can use 'f1' to see a list of them.

At the command line,

You can reset a DTC by entering:
#dtcreset dtcname

You can also reset only a specific port on the DTC
# dtcreset dtcname board port

If you reset the entire DTC, it will take 3-5 minutes for it to down load its configuration files and re-boot. This is if it actually can find the host it connects to (assuming your netork is up and running).

There is a manual called "HP DTC Manager" that can be found somewhere in the HP website universe.

Chapter 6 is about Modifying DTC's.

Good Luck,
