dtwm consuming processor time
Hi all,
i have about 30 B132L workstations with HP-UX 10.20, applications are ME10 and WorkManager (CoCreate).
Every now and then a workstation locks up an when i look at top is see that dtwm is consuming much processor time.
If i kill the dtwm process the user can inter act with the application but of course all window borders are gone.
If have patched the machine with XSW700GR1020 June 2001 but still the problem occurs.
Any suggestions ?
Kind Regards
Andreas

Re: dtwm consuming processor time
NB applications such as Unigraphics, SolidDesigner, ME10, ProE, and others
use Starbase or OpenGL to access the screen and are not under the full
control of CDE, therefore I suspect the problem is more complicated in that dtwm is the result of the problem not the cause.
would I be right in saying the hang only occurs in conjunction with the cad applications ?
Also are you using anything like a wheel button mouse ? have you tried disabling it ?
what graphics card are you using : see graphinfo output ?
Is this a full Xserver hang ie no input from mouse or KB ? can be either be used at the ponit of the increase in cpu ?
Is there a specific set of circumstances you can use to reproduce this hang at will ie focus on a certain window, perform certain actions within the CAD apps ?
Advise : if using fxe,fx5 or 10 graphics cards install the latest Xserver, oopengL 3d graphics patches : check usual log files Xerrors etc for clues, but some form of tracing may be the only way forward : perhaps speak to me10 support etc or raise call with HP Response Centre ?
