Dynamic Lun addition

Dear Gurus,

i have HPUX 11.23 servers connected to Hittachi NSC55 Storage and Multipath software HDLM 5.8 is also configured .I have to take a reboot(dlmdefpath -a) everytime whenever a new lun is adding to server.Does anyone know how to solve this without taking a reboot for multipath facility.

Hi Trng,

You can use (dlmdefpath -a)or powerpath with we use in EMC command which show your current & existing LUN

example :-

powerrmt dev=all (something like that)

the above output should show you the current and newly presented LUNS,

Once above output can display all the LUNS

# ioscan -fn
#insf -e
# powermt dev=all command to display all LUNS

I know nothing about the NSC55 or HDLM, but I _do_ know that HP-UX doesn't need to be rebooted to see a new LUN, so this must be something to do with the NSC55 or HDLM - my bet would be HDLM...

Anyway my first point of call would be with HDS - if they try and give you any BS about this being HP-UX, then cry foul... I've been dynamically adding LUNs to HP-UX systems since 1998...
