envd.conf not processing actions
For some obscure reason my question got moved to the back of beyond that is the Openview forum when its really a System Admin question - its the fact that the actions are not running and not that its an ovevent action.
Anyway here it is again -
Hi All
About two or three years ago I configured /etc/envd.conf on our system to monitor for over temperature alerts and issue both an SMNP trap for our NNM server and a script which generates email and mobile phone SMS alert for out of hours support.
Problem is without cooking the computer room i was not able to test back then and whilst I was out of the office last week, Murphys law kicked in and the staff in the office managed to shutdown the Air Con for several hours. Fortunatly as it was office hours the problem was addressed but I noticed that my alerts did not kick in although the message did get issued to all logins and also to the syslog.
Anyone have any ideas why the following did not kick in ?
OVERTEMP_CRIT:y
/opt/OV/bin/ovevent 171.10.10.15 .1.3.6.1.4.1.4530.1.0.1
/users/root/check_support.sh 1
OVERTEMP_EMERG:y
/usr/sbin/reboot -qh
The check support script (attached) is fairly basic and is run quite regularly for other alerts. It justs starts a monitor routine to ensure that someone has got the message sent via NNM to their mobile and finishes as soon as someone logs in, but I don't think any attempt was made by envd.conf to run this script.
