Error Adding Printer (Problem with rmodel file)

Hi all,
I am getting a error message
"stderr from this command is "usr/sbin/lpadmin"model "rmodel" non-existent. Unable to add printer because of above errors"

This type of error is coming first time, earlier I am adding and printing sucessfully.

As per the error message it is not reading the rmodel file correctly or it might be corrupt.

If anybody can tell me how to recover the corrupt rmodel file or any idea to recify the problem will be great help.

Thanks in advance

Pradeep

Hello,
You do not list the make and model of the printer nor the relase of your os you can load /reload the hp model scripts from here : for other makes see the manufacturers web site

Re: Error Adding Printer (Problem with rmodel file)

The rmodel script is part of the lp subsystem and is always the same for every remote printer. Some root user has removed the file (a bad thing to do) so you have to reinstall the lp spool system or copy the rmodel file from another (working) HP-UX system. Note that this may be a symptom of worse problems in case some root user has been randomly changing things in the lp subsystem.
