Error during Ignite LAN Boot: tftpd: sendfile: recv: Protocol error

It's been eons since I have done this.

I am booting an nPar with an AD193 HBA (combo 4GFC/GigE).

I;ve set up my Ignite-UX server by the book.. C.7.X.X. Env is 11.11.

On Ignite Boot it prompts:

HARD Booted.

ISL Revision A.00.44 Mar 12, 2003

ISL booting hpux KernelPrompt "Choose an operating system to install that your hardware supports:" 120 1

Resetting boot device...

1. target OS is B.11.11
2. Exit

Choose an operating system to install that your hardware supports:1

Boot
: lan(6/0/4/0/0/6/0;0)/boot/Rel_B.11.11/WINSTALL
Exec failed

But fails.

Looking at my Ignite Server's syslog, I find:

Mar 23 20:09:59 sysmgr tftpd[15393]: sendfile: recv: Protocol error
Mar 23 20:14:27 sysmgr tftpd[1124]: sendfile: recv: Protocol error
Mar 23 20:19:02 sysmgr tftpd[19945]: sendfile: recv: Protocol error

Any clues where I may be off, doing things incorrectly?

Re: Error during Ignite LAN Boot: tftpd: sendfile: recv: Protocol error

Hi,

Have you tried manually the tftp transmissions between the hosts ?

This is important because that's part of the root error that you have, maybe you have a firewall stopping part of the packets that are going to another host for the restore.

Please check that and let us know your results,

Regards,

Marco,
Just unplug and plug in again ....

Re: Error during Ignite LAN Boot: tftpd: sendfile: recv: Protocol error

Do you think it may be because the LAN interface I am using is not a core interface?

It is a AD193.

vPar ignitions work on this card.

I can connect tftp wise to my ignite server.

I believe the Ignite version C.7.7 (Sept 2008) may have more support for that card in 11.11. If you are not running C.7.7 or later, I would try that.
