Error in spooling ... pr6437: Cannot create the specified file.

Hello, this problem is intermittent when the user is trying to print a file.
If the user logs out and logs back in, the user will be able to print the same file.
Any suggestions on what I can check to troubleshoot this problem?
Thank you.
I have the will but can't find the way...

Re: Error in spooling ... pr6437: Cannot create the specified file.

Is it just one user or all users ? Just one specific printer or randomly happened to all printers ? The spool file is intermittently having problem either during it being sent over to the printer server or during it's creation in the /var/spool/lp/request/. There are a few possibilities ..
1- intermittent networking issues
2- /var space getting full

Re: Error in spooling ... pr6437: Cannot create the specified file.

Hi! Thanks for the quick response.
It happens to all users and all printers (connected to the server, network, not local not remote) but like I mentioned it is very intermittent.
I don't think it is /var because is has 330M free.
The network administrator has checked if it has anything to do with networking but he said it's okay.
I'm not a networking person but could you suggest how I can troubleshoot, if this is indeed a networking problem?
Thanks a lot!

Re: Error in spooling ... pr6437: Cannot create the specified file.

If it's "very intermittent" it is going to be difficult to pinpoint plus you have a network administrator that has verified that the network is ok. However 2 commands you could use ..
netstat=This utility provides nw statistics and info about network.
lanadmin=This tests up to the application layer with the remote communications test.

I have one more recommendation, ie to make sure you have the latest lpspool cumulative patch installed. For example if I'm on 11.0 (700s or 800s) I have to make sure I got PHCO_25110 (lpspool subsystem cumulative patch).
