Error in syslog

I have a RP5470 and the syslog are logging the following message:
Dec 27 20:59:12 atisd3 vmunix: ct_query failed. hw_path = 0/3/0/0
Dec 27 20:59:17 atisd3 vmunix: ct_query failed. hw_path = 0/9/0/0

This message repeat every day!
The hardware:

fc 0 0/3/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter

fc 1 0/9/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter

I want to know who i can solve this problem.
Thanks a lot

Re: Error in syslog

Hi,

These messages appears if the already connected FC HBA connection is removed. Second possibility could be un-mapping of device in switch/fabric environment which was mapped earlier through the FC HBAs.

Refer following doc for details and workaround depending on the current situation at your site.

Re: Error in syslog

Hi
As result of ioscan command, the hardware seems okay.
Can you check by Support Tool Manager for these HBA? (cstm or xstm)
Can you reboot the server? I have faced with this trouble long time ago and the error disappear when reboot the server...

Re: Error in syslog

Hi Francisco,

Use fcmsutil to do a loopback test through the following command
/opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil lb plm

Please post the output of following command also

fcmsutil /dev/ devstat
eg: # fcmsutil /dev/td0 devstat 0x20027

Nport_Id you will get from dmesg or syslog error messages

Please Confirm whether you have recently replaced any Fibre Channel adapter ( or GBIC Card) at server or storage box; in that case you have to execute the following command.

# fcmsutil /dev/td# replace_dsk N_Port_ID

Hope this will help

Re: Error in syslog

Shalom Francisco,

I believe the error message may be because nothing is plugged into the Fiber channel card.

Why not try plugging it into a fiber network or something and see if the behavior continues.

The card is claimed, which means most likely everything is okay. To be certain, perhaps fire up mstm, cstm or xstm and run the excercize utility on the cards.

I find it difficult to believe that the cards have failed, but stranger things can happen.

Also, have you installed drivers for these cards? If not, this may explain why the kernel is having trouble talking to them. The drivers for these cards are on the Core OS DVD, and probably on the Application Cd's as well.

Re: Error in syslog

Francisco,

Is the FC card in use, is it connected to a Fibre switch?
If it's connected to a switch check if the switch is oke.

Have you installed the latest driver for the FC-Card, It can be installed with a patch.

Can you also add the output of the fcmsutil command.

GoodLuck
