Errors after patch upgrade
I installed my latest fourth quarter patch bundle. After that we are facing problems in compilation and accessing system resources as the environment does not work well sometimes. sys.resources got changed and stuff.
Can someone pls guide me if i can rollback this patch bundle. This patch bundle is internal to our organization. It comes to us as a script which has all patch names and then a swinstall command in the command which get's it for us from the depot.
Good answers will be rewarded.
Regards,
Anil

Re: Errors after patch upgrade
I did not try this:
Look at swremove
for example:
B.11.00.20.09 HPUX 11.0 Support Tools Bundle, Mar 2002
B.11.00.56.5 Quality Pack for HP-UX 11.00, March 2002
B.11.00.0203. Hardware Enablement Patches for HP-UX 11.00, March 2002
Note: Quality Pack and Hardware Enablement Patches must be installed/removed together.
Again, I did not try this, if someone has comments or notes for us beginners please let us know.
Good luck.

Re: Errors after patch upgrade
i dont know for a easy way for rollback of installing a bundles of patches .
the only way that you can try it to check what new patches you install with the new bundle of support plus patches and try to remove them .
i will not recommend to do this !
the easy way is just to restore the system from a make_tape_recovery tape , i hopw that you have this tape .
also , i dont know about big issue that there is with the support plus bundles , i m installing it all the time ( like you ) every 3 month but i dont have a lot of applic.
if you dont have a clue what is the problem with your system and you have a lot of problem with compile i can guess that it is about :
libc , ld and linker patches that is causeing you problem but you didnt gave us any error to try to solve it .
you can also check the status of the install of the patches with the command :
swlist -l fileset -a state | grep -i install
swlist -l fileset -a state | grep -i currapt
if you have fileset that is in this state you need to fic this problem .
remember that you need to check it on only install patches , not all the patches .
you can get all the install patches with the command :
show_patches
and you can also run the until . check_patches to see if you have problem with your patches .

Re: Errors after patch upgrade
Try getting a good version of the SWDIST patch (phco_25875 -
works for me.)
Install that
Then go back and reinstall the bundle you just tried
You can look to see if your patches match what is in the kernel -
10 bucks says that is what your problem is.

Re: Errors after patch upgrade
Also check for corrupt patches-
swlist -l patch -a state
check for corrupt.
Also if I remember correctly QPK and HWE should go toghther, it seems that you applied only QPK.

Re: Errors after patch upgrade
What I can suggest you is to get the product name/no. for your hardware enablement/QPK patches, try a simple syntax "swlist -l fileset -a state

Re: Errors after patch upgrade
Did you instll the patches using "Manage Patch Selection"? I have seen problems when patches has been selected "manually" and don't realy match installed products. If there is a missmatch you should be able to recover by swremoving.
