Re: Errors lan in syslog

Hi Carmen,

It seems as if your system is detecting network problems at lan0. Is it physically connected even if not configured ? what is the output of
#lanscan -q
and
#ifconfig lan0

Re: Errors lan in syslog

If you pull the cable or the switch/hub loses power this happens.

Its not serious at all unless you have network traffic at the time.

Re: Errors lan in syslog

Hi Carmen,

It seems that this interface was in use till sometime back and probably system is not restarted after config change. Confirm that you have removed all entries from /etc/rc.config.d/netconf. If this is not the case and the interface is not in use I would suggest removing device file for this using rmsf.(man rmsf for details)

Re: Errors lan in syslog

Hi,

I haven't got any entry of lan0 in netconf, and I have reboot this server, but the messages is outting at the syslog yet.

I don't know what could I do now.

Thanks very much.
Carmen.

Re: Errors lan in syslog

Hi Carmen,

Please see the following two thread which includes the same problem. These suggest that the message will not repeat if you plug in a spare cable and the messages are appearing as the devices are monitored bt stm.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=311768

Alongwith I would also suggest to check wheather you have latest network Sub system patch.

Re: Errors lan in syslog

Hi Carmen,
As also clarified in two referred threads as well removing device file will not help. Can you check by just plugging in some cable if you have some spare. And what about the patch level of the system ?

Re: Errors lan in syslog

Hi all,

The solutions is this:

I have put auto-negotiation ON at the interfice, now is the switch which is asking and the interface doesn't do the polling and doesn't appers the messages at the syslog.

# lanadmin -x 0
Current Speed = 10 Full-Duplex Auto-Negotiation-OFF

# lanadmin -X auto_on 0

# lanadmin -x 0
Current Speed = 10 Full-Duplex Auto-Negotiation-ON

Thanks very one!
Carmen.
