/etc/update

I need to update from 9.0 to 10.0 and I cannot find the /etc/update file my system. Was is accidently deleted or do I need to get this file from somewhere else? According to the HP manual, its just there.

Thanks

Re: /etc/update

Manual is wrong...!!! I've never just "seen" a file called update...

I checked 5 HP systems here, and 4 have an "upgrade" directory.

You might want to write HP on this, as you don't want to trash an upgrade.

Re: /etc/update

The manual is NOT wrong. The file /etc/update is a 9.X command used prior to the Software Distributor. This file needs to be recovered from a backup tape prior to updating any 9.X software.

Re: /etc/update

Where can I get update from? I have no backups to recover this from. Can I get this application from the HP 9.0 Application CDrom?

Thanks.

Re: /etc/update

Unfortunatly, I think you need to have update to restore any files from the 9.X CD's. I'm not sure how you should proceed without any backups.

Sorry,
