fbackup(3014): WRITE ERROR: could not write to the output file
fbackup(3004): writer aborting
fbackup(1002): Backup did not complete : Reader or Writer process exit
Can anyone pls tell me what this error indicates? whether its a problem with the tape?etc....

Re: Fbackup error
Yes, that souds a lot like a problem with the tape or the tape drive.
Some things to check:
Replace the tape. If the tape has been used a lot, you could just need a new tape.
Make sure the tape is not write-protected.
Clean the tape drive regularly and make sure you keep track of the number of uses of the cleaning cartridge.
Check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for an related error messages. Look for SCSI errors or anything that may have occurred at the time your backup was attempting to run.

Re: Fbackup error
if this is not a tape problem (such as write protected or just a bad tape) then maybe you have the wrong the wrong device specified.
ioscan -funCtape
if this is still not it, run a cleaning tape through it a couple of times and try again.
