FBACKUP errors
I have problems when backing up using fbackup on HP QUANTUM 8000 tape drive. I'm on a HP-UX 11.00 platform and the errors are as follows:
fbackup(3013): WRITE ERROR while writing data record, at media record nnn
fbackup(3102): attenpting to make this volume salvagable
fbackup(3103): rewrite this volume from the beginning?
Are there and patches i can install that will solve this?
Goke

Re: FBACKUP errors
Hi Goke,
I would suggest installing the latest cumulative tape patches and also any fbackup patches, you'll find a list of these on the ITRC related to your specific drive product number.
You could also try and tar some files onto the tape to see if you get any errors, if not the problem is more than likely an fbackup problem.
Hope this helps,
Gary

Re: FBACKUP errors
I suspect this is a known issue JAGae03668... have you checked the syslog for evidence ?
My advise would be to get the latest firmware installed on the drive ....
there's a slim chance this could be H/W ... dmesg ?
PHKL_29049 11.00 SCSI IO Subsystem Cumulative Patch
PHKL_28216 11.00 SCSI Tape (stape) cumulative
are also worth considering.

Re: FBACKUP errors
The PHCO_25424 is the most recent s700_800 11.00 cumulative fbackup(1M)/frecover(1M) patch
