fbackup problem
Hi all,
We are getting the following error nearly every night from out backup:-
fbackup(1004): session begins on Thu May 29 01:00:50 2003
fbackup(3203): volume 1 has been used 6 time(s)
fbackup(3024): writing volume 1 to the output file /dev/rmt/0m
fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /tmp/chk_robo_heartbeat.lst
fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 38700 was NOT backed up
fbackup(3044): ioctl error, can't query outfile
at media record 63605
fbackup(3102): attempting to make this volume salvagable
fbackup(3123): could not read the previous checkpoint record
fbackup(3105): writing 2 EOFs and rewinding the tape
fbackup(3106): please mount a good tape
fbackup(3038): output file /dev/rmt/0m is not a valid device file for backup
fbackup(3019): would you like to enter a new output file?
fbackup(3004): writer aborting
fbackup(1002): Backup did not complete : Reader or Writer process exit
The Tape Unit has only recently been replaced on the server.

Has any backup using fbackup actually worked since the drive was replaced?
Have you tried other methods of test backups like tar?
If none of these work, get the drive replaced again, and test thoroughly before dismissing the engineer.

tried with tar?tar cvf /dev/rmt/0m /tmp/ (for test).If tar wouldn't work - looks like a drive/tape problem.Else should check fsbackup patches,flags etc.Also check ioscan -fnCdisk and see if drive is connected.Look also for
scsi errors in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
