Re: fbackup
From the command line try using frecover(1m):
frecover -f /dev/rmt/0m -i 'file to be recovered' -xv
Make sure your file name is in quotes for the spaces to be recoginized. You may also need to change the name of your tape device after the -f option depending upon your system.

Re: fbackup
If you have space create a dir on your system and try recovering the whole directory from the tape to the new dir.

Re: fbackup
I just tried using sam to recover a file with a space in its name and was successful in having sam read the file name from a file. To do this, create a file with a list of the files you wish to recover, 1 per line. Make sure that each file has the full (absolute) path specified. When you enter this file into sam, also make sure to use the full (absolute) path. Click on

Re: fbackup
How was the file backed up?
When I was trying to recover a file from a dlt7000 tape it wouldn't allow me to recover any files with spaces. It turns out the formating of the tape was incorrect. Instead of a 35C tape I thought I had, it actually, was recognized on another tape drive DLT4000 as a 20C than i was able to recover the file.
