Re: fbackup
Some good features of fbackup are
1) Can be done on remote tape drives
2) Can spawn on multiple tapes
3) Can be done strategically by using the full and incremental options.
4) Luxury of excluding directories/file systems using graph files.
5) Can get a quick Index of the tape.
6) Keeps the history of previous backups (nothing but point 3)

Re: fbackup
Fbackup is good for HP.
you can do incremental backup
you can use graph file
you can run backup over network
It will do backup on more then one volume.
you can restore files/directorys to relative or absoult location
you can have index file which lists all the files included into the backup.

Re: fbackup
fbackup is the best free backup tool I know. For small and medium sized systems it will/can do all you need.
A (very) small drawback is that it is not compatible with other unix flavours.
For large system you might consider Omniback, but that comes with a nice price tag.
good luck,
Thierry.

Re: fbackup
to know, but there is one thing you perhaps
are not aware of is that 'fbackup' on it's
own does not backup raw partitions.

Re: fbackup
Fbackup is a good tool for backup. It's advatages are
U can take differential as well as incrimental backup.
U can take backup as per ur requirements, like U want to take the backup of a directory but U want to exclude a subdirectory of that. In this case U can create graph file take backup accordingly.
This will keep the track of previous backups.
U can count the number of tape insertion by using fbackup with appropriate options.
Best of luck
