FCMSUTIL

I have a high Bad Rx count on tow of four GBIC devices. Hp came and replaced the GBIC devices. We did not know how to reset the count with out power cycleing the devices.
Is there a way to reset the Bad Rx count on these devices?

Re: FCMSUTIL

I don't think you have to reset it unless your system was not rebooted. But your fcmsutil option should be clear_stat ...

You can do a reset from the fcmsutil utility...That should put you in better shape...

Re: FCMSUTIL

hi,
you can clear all statistics not just rx bad. Check your controller model and for A5158A option is "clear_stat", see man fcsmutil.
If you have a old controller model try option "reset" for fcmsutil but this will reset you fc connection for a short time and you peripherals will be unavailable for a few seconds.

Re: FCMSUTIL

I read through the Man page and looks like my option is fcmsutil reset but the man page say that it is distructive, "distructive makes Layne Nervous" The system is up and running. 13 Oracle instances in production... any concerns?

Re: FCMSUTIL

clear_stat is not an option. Only for A5158A
I have A3740A, looks like the option is to
FMCSUTIL /dev/xxxxx reset
The man page indicates that it is (distructive)
So is this something to do in the middle of a production day or at a later time?

Layne

A reset is a full reset so plan it away from production.

To be fully safe - Full backup first.
