Re: Fiber Disk

I don't have a straight answer for you, but surely you must have some kind of user manual
for the disk or storage enclosure that tells your this.
Typically it means one of the following
1> disk failing to spin up (listen for sounds)
2> I/O (should be irregular)
3> Badly seated or poor power.

Other than that see if the ioscan sees the disk
and if a dd reads/writes from it without error.
How do you set the loop id btw. there could be
a conflict if the disk gets a loop id.
If you reboot hpux with a loop id conflict
you'll get a panic. This would be a reason
you don't see it on an ioscan too.
Make sure that on that loop it's got a
unique loop id.

Re: Fiber Disk

What type of disk sub-system is this drive in?
For example, in a XP256 or an EMC, the array is constantly running diagnostics. You will see the led flash periodically as the array hits the disk. Sort of like a heartbeat.
