Re: Fresh install

I'm not certain I follow,
If you want to install:
(interupt the boot - ten seconds)
Command Menu: Main Menu> SEA

it will return a list of potentially bootable devices.

there will be a .2.0 which will represent in most cases a bootable CD-ROM

BO PX
where the X represents the ID of the Path returned by the SEA.

for an ignite recovery:
on your ignite server, you can select to boot a client from the ignite gui.
Otherwise, from the BCH:
Command Menu: Main Menu> BO LAN.i.p.address INSTALL
or
Command Menu: Main Menu> BO LAN
or
Command Menu: Main Menu> SEA LAN

It works for me (tm)

Re: Fresh install

are you sure that you have the core OS cd/dvd in the drive ? if you have the correct cd and if you boot from that media, you should be able to see [ install ] as your first option on the menu presented to you

Re: Fresh install

You've more than likely got a problem with your terminal settings.

What type of terminal are you using? Set it to either vt100 or HP.

Re: Fresh install

ok..

i have in the drive Disk 1 of 3 Core OS and recovery version B.11.11

I stop the boot. and then do

sea

and then bo p0 (the cdrom)

now, it asks for the language code.. i type in 24. And then I see the Install/recover menu, but before i have change to choose install, it auto chooses recover and takes me the that menu instead.. I cannot get back to the install server menu.

Re: Fresh install

It looks like your terminal is sending an extra carriage return character when or before the menu is displayed which is getting you into the recover mode as I can guess.

What I would suggest is :

1. if you are using a hardware console, try resetting it :

if it is a 700/96 series standart console

turn off your console,
press the "D" key and hold it
then turn the power on
your console restores the default values

if it is still doing the same, try replacing it. It may be a bad one

if this does not work, or you are using a different terminal, I strongly advise using a 700/96 during this process.

2. if you are using a soft console, i.e., connecting to a GSP port console over the network and using some sort of terminal emulation software

make sure your terminal type at the GSP level and actual emulation of your terminal software match. GSP usually comes preconfigured to vt100 unless someone has changed it.

to review or change this termianl setting :

Hit -B and at the GSP> prompt type CA then hit .
Say Y to modify settings and Y to change terminal type, enter your desired terminal type, like hpterm or vt100 (here vt100 suggested as most terminal emulators do not emulate an hpterm to the t), and Y to confirm.

If after all of this, it still is doing the same thing, let us know what you have done and the results for further help.

Re: Fresh install

well its all working now.. most odd.. decided not to bother reinstalling, and just strip out the bits i don't need.. got over 300G of diskspace, so its not an issue.
