ftp limits?

Is there a limit to the number of open ftp sessions a server can have?

Re: ftp limits?

the nusers kernel paramter might become a limit, also, if You expect more than 2-5 connections / second, then consider using a different than the drfault ftp server and definitely avoid starting it via inetd (continous process creation and deletion will be a ugly limit)

Re: ftp limits?

if you are using the ftp provided with HP-UX, the limits will be based on:

nfile
nproc

IIRC an active FTP session has something like 7 or 8 open FDs.

An active FTP session is a process

Of course, CPU limitations can come into play. There are some FTP measurements for older HP kit at:

ftp://ftp.cup.hp.com/dist/networking/briefs/

some are listed as "ftp" some as software download
