FTP problem

Hi All, I have two identical N4000 running NIS and on one N4000 ftp is giving an access denied error when trying to authenticate. This works fine on the other N4000. Any ideas where to look. I've looked at just about all the man pages regarding ftp, ftpd etc. There is no /etc/inetsvcs_sec file on either system. They appear to be identical. Thanks in advance for you help. Mike

Re: FTP problem

just an idea, but have you checked the /var/adm/inetd.sec file ? I had the same sort of issues and needed to update that file with the appropriate subnets or IPs....

Re: FTP problem

Check the /etc/shells file and make sure that the login shell of everyone that will use ftp is defined there. See 'man shells'

Re: FTP problem

Thanks Susan. There was no inetd.sec file. This didn't quite do it but was needed. The shells file was missing. Added that and it worked perfect. Thanks Patrick.
