Re: GEDIT
Why not trying another editor? There are so many.
How about this:

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: GEDIT
http://docs.hp.com/en/GNOME/install.html
But the "latest news" is dated 2005.
So you probably need to go to http://www.gnome.org/ , get the sources and start to compile everything you need.
(this could be an "endless" work - I'm not sure if I would do this for only an editor).
;-)
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: GEDIT
I'd expect that you would need at least gtk, and possibly the entire gnome desktop....

Re: GEDIT
Qedit, a text editor, is a purchasable product of Robelle Software.
You can see the product info here :http://www.robelle.com/products/
I have this product installed on my application servers running 11.11, 11.23 and 11.31 with no problems at all.

David

Re: GEDIT
It sounds like your "customer" came from a linux environment....
It may be that you will have to build the entire gnome environment to get this to work.
You might want to discuss the "requirement" with the customer, as not everything that can be done is worth it. I would question "why gedit". From the looks of the docs, it has IDE plugins, plus messaging, plus......

Re: GEDIT
http://www.gnome.org/projects/gedit/index.html
From here you can download the source and attempt to compile it on HP-UX. Be sure to look for an compile-time dependencies and run-time dependencies and compile/install those as well.

Re: GEDIT
http://www.gnome.org/projects/gedit/
I cannot see real highlights. IMHO dozens of editors can do this.
Note, this seems to be the current version.
The downloadable version on software.hp.com is much older.
I would search for alternatives without much dependencies.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
