I just recovered a server at our disaster site. It is the same basic hardware as our real production system. I used an ignite-ux tape to upgrade the hardware (k420) to hpux 11.0.
I'm getting a message:
getty: cannot open "ttyd0p7". errno 2
this pops up on the screen about every minute and is very distruptive. The server is also rebooting itself for no reason, but that may be unrelated.
Any suggestions??
Thanks!

Re: Getty - help please!
Hi,
check /etc/inittab for the entry with the ttyd0p7 and comment the line or replace 'respawn' with 'off'.
After that do an init -q
Regards

Solution
Hi Tim
Actually respawn starts ( getty ) generally on this port , so after you change it to off also please do a ps -ef | grep tty0p7 and kill any getty's associated with this port since that must be already started .This would stop the message coming , then you can go and further debug.
