Re: GNOME 2 on HP-UX

Gnome is great. you can either have it heavy weight or light weight depending on your config. it started life on linux but runs now on almost any platform even windows. Solaris is using gnome now instead of CDE, i'm a fan and use it all the time.
For people who don't want to go and build from the source they can always get prebuild gnome binary distributions like ximian. (http://www.ximian.com)

Re: GNOME 2 on HP-UX

I have heard no indications from HP that they plan to port it.

You'd have to compile it yourself.

I love it, its great on Linux. HP did port 1.4

Re: GNOME 2 on HP-UX

I tryed to swinstall the product with the GTK lib, but got many ERRORs saying that the LCONV, GTK libs were older than what was on the system.

Wonder, if there is a command to run telling me the version of GNOME ?

Re: GNOME 2 on HP-UX

I downloaded Gnome 1.4 from the HP site and it has been working for me very well indeed now
already for a year now, even with a session running for four months without interruption.

If you are careful to follow the instructions
on exactly what to install in which order you
should be fine.

Kind regards, Christian
