gzip installation
Hi,
I have removed /usr/contrib/bin from /etc/PATH and remove gzip from /usr/contrib/bin.
When I use swinstall, I get the same problem.
With find cmd, I have on server :
/opt/gzip
/tmp/gzip-1.3.1-sd-11.00.depot
/tmp/gzip
/var/tmp/BAAa28520/catalog/gzip
/var/tmp/BAAa28520/catalog/gzip/gzip-MAN
/var/tmp/BAAa28520/catalog/gzip/gzip-RUN
/var/adm/sw/products/gzip
/var/adm/sw/products/gzip/gzip-MAN
/var/adm/sw/products/gzip/gzip-RUN
/usr/contrib/man/man1.Z/gzip.1
/usr/contrib/src/gzip.info
/usr/contrib/src/gzip124.tar.gz
what can I delete to do my installation of gzip r=1.3.1.
thank you
Laurent

Re: gzip installation
Your problem isn't that you need to remove something prior to installing /tmp/gzip-1.3.1-sd-11.00.depot. The swinstall errors indicate that there may either be a problem with an incomplete download of gzip-1.3.1-sd-11.00.depot or host name resolution.
If it is due to hostname resolution, run swinstall interactively when attempting the install, change options and select "All targets to resolve the source locally". This may correct the problem and install your depot.
Hope this helps,
-denver

Re: gzip installation
Hi Laurent,
Try this way.
#mkdir /tmp/gzip
#cd /tmp/gzip
#tar xvf ../tmp/gzip*.depot
#find .
Make sure you get all the files missing in your swagent.log file below this path.
#touch catalog/swlock
#swreg -l depot /tmp/gzip
Try installing gzip using this depot.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try

Re: gzip installation
Hi,
As Denver Osborn indicated, I had the same exact problem and then I messed around with the /etc/resolv.conf and also check to see that your /etc/hosts has 444 permission and then try this,
# swinstall -s /tmp/gzip-1.3.1-sd-11.00.depot \*
Good luck,
Latif
