Re: Half Vs Full Duplex - HELP!!
if your hubs and serial servers are half duplex and switches are full duplex, it definately causes problem to the switches. better way is either of all them half duplexed or all of them full duplexed.

Re: Half Vs Full Duplex - HELP!!
I'm no expert but sure, you can hang hubs off a switch. Since hubs typically auto-sense themselves, they should negiotiate with the switch and hopefully both set their speed and duplex to match the other. However, if they don't negiotiate correctly, one could be set in half and the other in full duplex which results in highly degraded performance. The best I can say is to check your manuals then verify what the ports are set to after connection.

Re: Half Vs Full Duplex - HELP!!
You didn't state what kind of network you're working with, but the answer to your questions can most likely be found at the HP-UX Network Lab website: http://techsolutions.hp.com/
This site contains detailed installation, configuration, and debugging instructions for most HP-UX Network link products.
Hope this helps a little,
