hard disk failure
dear all,
I have an old HP workstation under Unix 9.07 !!
At boot I had the following message :
"/dev/rroot : cannot read : BLK 680232
/dev/rroot : Unexpected inconsistency; run fsck manually"
When I run manually fsck I have in continous the message : "cannot read block 680232"
I can boot as single user.
Can I repair the hard disk or must I install a new one ?
thanks for your answer

Re: hard disk failure
Shalom,
I believe the disk is dead and needs to be replaced. Its probably not your boot disk, or single user boot would fail as well.

Re: hard disk failure
well I would say your disk requires replacing, BUT if the system is THAT old, you may have a major problem getting a disk size that is supported by that OS.
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Hi d'arco
Please find the attachment to verify good or bad disk.
