Hardware and Oracle database

Hello,
The Event viewer of the production Oracle server is showing error messages are as follows,

1)\device\AFA0 : Controller battery needs recondittioning please run.
2)\device\AFA0 : Your controller management software.
3)The system causes attempting to transfer data from buffer to
\device\otmdevice_0110 \_device_hard disk2_partition_01\oracle\ora81\archive\orcl.There
some data may have been written to the file.

I have spoke to the tech support of DELL,
They had mentioned that, the battery has to be reconditioned twice a year.
They are not very sure (No clue) about the error 2 & 3 mentioned above.
Even for the error msg 1, they are assuming the problem might due to recondition of battery.

Please provide some solutions.
Thanks.

I have no clue what you're asking. To help out, What type of equipment is involved? Is this on a PC Server running Windows NT?

Re: Hardware and Oracle database

YOU POSTED IN THE WRONG AREA!!!!! Event Viewer is windblows NT (not tested).

Dont have a clue why someone would ruin a great performing SQL system by trying to run it on windblows, and even pay double for hardware and oracle to do so.

Happy Crashing!

Re: Hardware and Oracle database

Well, I would recondition the battery like Dell says. Then monitor the event log to see if the condition persists. I believe if you don't the RAID controller may loose its configuration and will be lost on a reboot.

Keep in mind that these controllers need this performed periodically.
False sense of well being.
