HELP

i have Windows 98. i use a USB 2 cable. i have HP officejet 6110. big problem. the installlation went fine but connection to the printer failed occasinally and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. it loses connection to the print. the HP all in one is version 2.0
i need help please....
do i need XP?
