High CPU Usage

Hi,

At times, some of the screen processes in our application consume up to 99% CPU time .

These screens processes use a lot of curses functions and we see a lot of EINTR and EIO erros related to these screens in their debug files.

What could be the potential resons for this high CPU usage and how we can get rid of it?
Thanks
Ajay

Re: High CPU Usage

Hi

This has 2 options

1)Tuning

Does /var/dt/Xerrors $HOME/.dt/startlog $HOME/.dt/errorlo /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
contain any errors.

2)Patches

This points often to software

Re: High CPU Usage

We sometimes get a random dtlogin that uses quite a bit, some kind of loop somewhere.

We just kill them and continue.

Re: High CPU Usage

Thanks for the input.
I will check the syslog files.

To overcome this problem, is there any related patch available for Digital UNIX and Tru 64 ?

Thanks

Re: High CPU Usage

Performance data collection can help you as well.

I'm attaching a script that runs background, its production, and I've used it for years.
