Re: host file

hi Karthik
.rhost file is based on the user name host.equiv based on the host
using .rhost file you can login to the server without password from other server
if you mention the host name in host.equiv user can login to the system from mentioned system with out password

Re: host file

# man hosts.equiv

All your answers should be there. I will also just mention that you can also use .rhosts files with ssh.
"The difference between me and you? I will read the man page." and "Respect the hat." and "You could just do a search on ITRC, you don't need to start a thread on a topic that's been answered 100 times already." Oh, and "What. no points???"

FYI - both are considered risks if the system is audited for potential security breaches.

Re: host file

Hi safarali,

That means who are in the server(host), all the users can login that server. Is it right?

Ok fine. Then this .rhost and host.equiv files to be modified in our system or remote system?
