hostname

Hi
I think my brain has gone west !!!

I have a server that was once called K1 - I renamed it to N-0 (set_params shows it as N-0, hostname shows N-0 - it is N-0 in hosts and netconf)

Problem:- I reboot it and the .profile on root is set to show logname and hostname and this gives me a root@K1/> prompt after the reboot whilest hostname still shows N-0.

What have I missed apart from the last bus home.

Re: hostname

Hi Paula,

I will try to pull your brain back east again :-)

Here are the things you can look into:

Did you make the changes in /etc/hosts?
Did you make changes in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf?

Check for backup copies of the netconf file in /etc/rc.config.d. That directory should not have any copies of the files in there.

Hope that helped.
Take care, Steffi

Re: hostname

Hi Steffi

It was an old netconf file that was doing it, for some reason it was reading netconk.k1 my old file.

Well we learn somthing new everyday.

Thanks for you help.

Take care.
