How do I do Charge Back

Hello All ,

Please help me on this .

I have a large datacenter with Mix and Match of diff , application and diff Databases running .

What strategy I will use for charge back projects on a monthly basis.

For example I have an application ABC with 4 Windows boxes , 2 HP Boxes .

These boxes may have different CPU and Memory Capacity .

I do have the Total H/W and S/W cost .

How do I arrive a formula with cost factors ?

Please help and thanks in advance too .

You can enable system accounting which can show system usage by users and groups although these days it is more common to simply divide the total costs by the user count abd prorate it to each department.

There are really no hard and fast formulae for what you are trying to do because every company is different but system accounting will at least get you some metrics --- at least for the UNIX boxes.
