sendmail is probably (surely ?) already installed on any HP-UX. All you want to do is to configure your /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file.

Basic configuration should be to set your relay host as your SMTP server. You can di that by putting your SMTP server name at end of line begining with DS in sendmail.cf.

after that you restart sendmail (kill -1) and it should do.

There might be further config to do (masquerade, aliases...) but this is the first step.
