How do you set CDE up?
I have just upgraded OS to version 11.0 from 10.20 and I would like to get rid of VUE and move to CDE.
We have never used CDE before and I am not too sure where to start to set CDE up. Can anyone help me to point to the right direction?
Also are there any good Xwindows software to use?
Thanks,
Aki

Re: How do you set CDE up?
Check /etc/rc.config.d/desktop
Should set DESKTOP="CDE"
This causes dtlogin to start
If you have a graphics monitor, to start dtlogin.
edit the /etc/dt/config/Xservers
uncomment the line * local localhost@.........
run /sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc stop
run /sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc start
I think this will get you started. There are numerous post on setting up CDE. Do a search on CDE.
Hope this helps

Re: How do you set CDE up?
Hi Aki,
There is a conversion tool, vue2cde, which can be installed from HPUX v11 CD. I'm still working it out myself so can't tell you much more, but this will convert existing Vue configs to CDE.
