How much memory is really used

my glance shows:
Total VM : 8.4gb Sys Mem : 10.6gb User Mem: 6.6gb Phys Mem : 40.0gb
Active VM: 3.6gb Buf Cache: 0mb Free Mem: 18.8gb FileCache: 4.1gb
about 53% memory was used. However, when I extract from measureware datafiles, it said 57% FREE.
Any idea why they are so much different and which one is telling the truth?

Re: How much memory is really used

Which metric are u using for the MWA extract ? As well as the sample average ?

I typically run into the issue where what I think is the right metric is not the same as displayed in Glance.

MWA can only drill down to 5min ave and glance is typically a 15sec. I would not expect memory to flux that much but, in order to compare you need to use all the same parmeters.

I can try and validate with my glance 4.5 install. It just might be wrong.
( like that never happens:)

The metric I used was GBL_MEM_AVAIL.
