HP LPQ500 printing

We have a HP LPQ500 printer that we can no longer print to or ping. This has been working fine until someone powered it on and off the other day. The printer looks ok and all network connections have been checked and they also look ok.

I don't know if it may have lost its ipaddress but i don't know how to check or put if back?

Re: HP LPQ500 printing

How the printer was set up?? Jetdirect???

Can you ping from hp-ux?? Ping from any other box??, telnet to printer ip address and check all settings. The printer needs to be accessible form hp-ux to check anything from hp-ux side.

Re: HP LPQ500 printing

Hi

I would expect this to be a serial printer unless attached to a network printer box

If a printer box then turn off the printer
turn off the box . restart the box restart the printer and then see if a dhcp message is in the syslog of the dedicated printer server

If you know the card mac address you could try a linkloop connection test

Re: HP LPQ500 printing

The printer is not connected to a print server. i have looked at it and ran test prints from the machine itself and it all looks fine.

I can only think it has lost its ipaddress. its so old no one knows anything about it!
