HP-UX 11.0/11i 32 Bit

Hi,

I want to install HP-UX (11.0 or 11i) in 32 bit mode. But in my CoreOS CD it showing only 64Bit option.
So can some body let me know How to install HP-UX11 in 32 bit mode.

Thanks in advance.

Re: HP-UX 11.0/11i 32 Bit

Hi Walter,

It depends entirely on the system you wish to install.
All of the newer systems can *only* run 64-bit.
About the last system capable of running 32-bit are the K-class systems, although I believe an early A-180 (NOT A-400/500) could run 32-bit as well.
It's a pretty good indicator that if the install util does not display a 32-bit version that you cannot run it in the HW upon which you're trying to install.

HTH,
Jeff

Re: HP-UX 11.0/11i 32 Bit

As Jeff said, it depends on the server. ALL NEW machines (workstations and servers both) can ONLY handle 64-bit HP-UX.

See the support matrices here:

Re: HP-UX 11.0/11i 32 Bit

Hi

kernel width depends on h/w(CPU) config.

old models like D-class, k-class can take only 32 bit, where as recent models (a-class, N-class etc..) takes only 64 bit OS.

Re: HP-UX 11.0/11i 32 Bit

If you are showing only 64 bit, thats all the hardware can handle.

I still run a D380 that can do both and "own" a D320 that can only run 32 bit. I think there is similar issues with R and K and V class servers.
