HP-UX EOSL

If I am not mistaken, HP-UX has now reached the rather sad milestone of being completely out of support.   All versions at End Of Support..

Will this change anything at HPE regarding access to ISO's and what ever patches currently exist?

I'd love to get the latest DSOE ISO's for my boxes

Hello @Rikki hinn Ogurlegi,

Yes, HP‑UX is now fully out of support, which means HPE won’t make new updates or patches. The last ISOs and patch bundles usually stay on HPE’s support site, but you need an HPE Passport account with the proper entitlement (active support or past agreement) to download them. HPE generally does not make proprietary software like HP‑UX publicly available after the end of support, so if you don’t have entitlement, you may not be able to get the files from the official site. Your options are to check any old support contract, ask HPE or your reseller if they can provide the DSOE ISOs (they may if you can prove ownership or prior entitlement), or work with a licensed partner who can legally supply the archived images.

Yes, I was aware of all that and that is actually what I was hoping would change now that HPE has put the final nail into the coffin of HP-UX.

After all, now that it's no longer supported, what is the point of support contracts for HP-UX?    And taking the logic one step further, why require a now void contract to download the ISO's and patches that currently exist?

Re: HP-UX EOSL

It makes sense to wonder why HPE still requires support contracts to access HP-UX ISOs and patches even though the product is no longer supported. The reason is that HP-UX is proprietary software, and HPE needs to control who can download and use it to protect their legal rights and follow licensing rules. Even after a product reaches End of Support, companies like HPE keep downloads restricted to customers with valid contracts to reduce legal risks and make sure only authorized users have access. These contracts also let HPE offer limited help, archived content, or paid extended support if needed. So, although the product won’t get new updates, having a support contract or proof of ownership helps maintain access to the existing files. If you need the ISOs, you can ask HPE or your reseller for access by showing that you own the product, and sometimes they can help even after support ends.
