HP9000 printer drivers
Can someone please provide me with a list of print drivers available for HP9000, for non-HP printers. We have a need to attach a specialized printer that does not emulate any HP products but does emulate several others.
Thanks,
Jon

Re: HP9000 printer drivers
this is the list that comes with HP-UX...
HPGL1, HPGL2, HPGL2.cent, HPP405, PCL1, PCL2, PCL3, PCL4, PCL5, colorlaserjet,
colorpro, deskjet, deskjet1200C, deskjet1600CM, deskjet500, deskjet500C,
deskjet550C, deskjet850C, deskjet855C, draftpro, dumb, dumbplot,
fonts, hp2225a, hp2225d, hp2227a, hp2228a, hp2235a, hp2276a, hp2300-1100L,
hp2300-840L, hp2560, hp2563a, hp2564b, hp2565a, hp2566b, hp2567b,

postscript, quietjet, rmodel, ruggedwriter, thinkjet
if you need other that don't emulate any of the above, you need to get the driver from the manufacturer.
dump or dumbplot usually work for all printers... unless you are talking something very exotic.

Re: HP9000 printer drivers
HP-UX uses the SysV lp design which doesn't use a driver, but instead schedules a printer script to perform the task. Start by specifying the 'dumb' model script then modify it (if necessary). Normally, your application program or script will send the appropriate codes for anything beyond printable ASCII.
