HPDPS Model Scripts

We are buying a number of LaserJet 2100's but
I can't find a model script for use when installing from HPDPS. A standard LaserJet script will probably work, but is there one specifically for this model?

Re: HPDPS Model Scripts

A script will be generated once you install the printer.

Re: HPDPS Model Scripts

I dont believe there is a specific model script for the 2100. Either use a laserjet one or a PCL one.

Re: HPDPS Model Scripts

The managers in charge of HPDPS development have emphatically stated that they will not support non-HP printers. Fact of the matter is that there are MANY HP printers that are not directly supported by HPDPS either. Two years ago I was evaluating HPDPS and found this significant problem and passed it through a variety of channels on both the sales and support sides. The Lab 'promised' to take care of this (and other issues as well), yet they still don't support the 4000 series printers either. The 4000 series is their bread and butter business line printer. To put it plainly, I find it difficult to believe that HP has not corrected this situation. I doubt you will see support for your 2000 series printer any time soon. In my mind HPDPS should either be removed from support or should have the development responsibility transferred over to the Boulder printing people (who also handle support for JetAdmin for HPUX). My guess is that HP is reluctant to do this transfer where HPDPS is so heavily dependent on DCE for operation. But I can't see why Boulder can not handle the drivers. In the past I also listened to suggestions to match the features with an older printer line and use that model script set instead. In my mind that's HP's job, NOT MINE! Why should I be expected to know the complete feature set of a manufacturer's equipment better than the manufacturer itself? And the fact of the matter is that the newer printers have new features that the old drivers don't address. The other retort that is used is that HPDPS is 'free'. Hardly! Is this not part of the original purchase and the support contract?

I'm sorry to spout off here, but the situation is as bad as I've stated. For some time I have seen many questions both here and other forums regarding HPDPS with users trying to work with the product like it's something that HP really cares about. The fact of the matter is that this situation severely hurt my credibility with a long time client (and nearly had me abruptly through the door in the wrong direction, and in the end did). HP needs to figure out that not delivering on seemingly 'small' issues like this is very detrimental in terms of future business. It's situations like this that really hurt in the long run (this client has been pinched by others like it too). There is little question in my mind that this sort of stuff is why S70's and S80's are rolling through that client's doors instead of HP equipment.
