I have a DPS setup in which the supervisor keeps dying. If I do a start/stop of the Distributed Print Services it will run for about 5 minutes, then bomb out and drop all of the physical printers.
The text from the error.log for the supervisor is:
E 08/01/05 16:59:33 [402db740 root,SO_1120B_P] 5010-589 The DCE message text is: Unsupported type (dce / rpc)
E 08/01/05 16:59:33 [4051fcd8 root,RIS_59S_P] 5010-675 The register signal to spooler SO_IT_spooler failed.
E 08/01/05 16:59:33 [4051fcd8 root,RIS_59S_P] 5010-137 A DCE error occurred during transfer_request. Use your local
problem-reporting procedure to report this message.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Solution
hi,
1. stop DPS - /sbin/init.d/pd stop
2. kill pdclientd, basicdsd, spooler, supervisor processes if still exist.
3. mv /var/opt/pd/basicdsd.db /var/opt/pd/basicdsd.db.old
4. restart DCE -
/sbin/init.d/dce stop
/sbin/init.d/dce start
5. start DPS - /sbin/init.d/pd start.
GOOD LUCK!
