hpux 10.20 error while running backups

I keep getting the following error while trying to run my backups. (tapes 2mm 4g)

looks like you r etrying to use an unsupported type of tape drive. What is it?

we are using an
hp SureStore Dat8 which is the which hasn't changed in over a year.

try to first clean the drive, then use another tape.

Also you could try and use another tape that was used previously and try to read it.
Anyone for a Mutiny ?

I have already tried using one of our old tapes and I have cleaned the drive after every attempt at backing up the system.

looks like it is time to get it swapped out then.

Other tests to try, have you tried to use tar to write to the tape? or dd?
if these also fail, then you have a definite hardware/media problem

Hoi,

I have seen this more.
I try te make een backup by hand, en after words i read the tape back, ever seems to be OK. This is also a DDS streamer, when i see this more i replace the hardware.

Hi Tommy,

It seems like the media or the Drive problem.

Have you tried with another new media. If the backup fails with the same error then the drive is faulty.
