the error is the following one:
Enter the network printer name or IP address (q - quit): IP
!! No response from IP !!
... (trying to ping IP)
The HP JetDirect Printer Installer for Unix can ping the device.
The problem may be:
* incorrect GET community name!
* it is not a network printer!
* other.

SolutionEnter the network printer name or IP address (q - quit): IP
!! No response from IP !!
... (trying to ping IP)"
huh? did you really create an entry in DNS or hosts file that defines printer named "IP" at a specific address. Of course, if you "munged" the above to not show the IP, then its possible that the card isn't set to the correct IP or it may not be JetDirect compatible.
at the "Enter the network printer....." prompt, its expecting either the valid IP address of the printer or a name that will resolve to that address.
Once that is correct, you can proceed. Also, once it answers the ping, you can ignore the error messages related to "get community name" and continue on..
All the above is predicated on the Ricoh having a JetDirect compatible network card installed.
As for what model script will work, its entirely possible that, depending upon the model, this may never work. Depends on if its a "windows only" / GDI printer, or ??? Insufficient information to determine, as there are many ricoh models

Re: I cannot define a network printer RICOH.
The printer model is Ricoh Aticio MP4000.
yes i created an entry in /etc/hosts file that defines printer name "IP" really.
I always define other printers model by sam as following :
Printers and Plotters --> Printers and Plotters -->LP Spooler -->Printers and Plotters -->
all defines printer appear --> then Actions ---> Add Network-Based Printer/Plotter.
and follow the step.
i cannot define that printer, because give an error when put the Ip or named define in /etc/hosts file.
one question....
Firts, I have the install any drivers or patch to define this printers ?

Ok, the PING succeeded. You should be able to ignore the error above and continue.....
