ia64 Slice Information help
Hello,
I've created a Non-OS FS on one disk that was having slices. Now I want to remove slice information. Can I use idisk to remove the slice information, but what impact it'll have in my newly created FS, I want FS to be intact.
What significance s1,s2,s3 slices have got ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ganesh

Re: ia64 Slice Information help
I doubt that you can get rid of the slices without re-creating your filesystem.
The disk needs to be initialized in a different way (pvcreate vs. idisk)
If you have another unused disk, try mirroring your FS to another disk, reduce the VG and re-create the sliced disk with a simple pvcreate.
The slices take the EFI loader and a service partition.
They are not needed on normal data disks.

And now for something completely different...
