Identifying dynamically tunables
Hi,
I need to update the kernel tunable parameter shmmax.
From a box running under HP-UX 11.11 I can see that this parameter seems to be dynamically tunable,
so that I assume I could do something like:
kmtune -s shmmax=
without the need to reboot.
# uname -srv;kmtune -q shmmax
HP-UX B.11.11 U
Parameter Current Dyn Planned Module Version
===============================================================================
shmmax 17179869184 Y 17179869184
Unfortunately I have to increase shmmax on a box that runs HP-UX 11.00.
But there I don't get an indication whether this parameter is dynamically tunable:
HP-UX B.11.00 U
Parameter Value
===============================================================================
shmmax 0X80000000
How can I identify dynamically tunables under HP-UX 11.00?
Regards
Ralph

Re: Identifying dynamically tunables
I don't believe that feature exists under HP-UX 11.00.
If you look at the kernel parameters in SAM when using HP-UX 11.11, some of the parameters show as "Dynamic"
This is not the case using 11.00

Re: Identifying dynamically tunables
You can also see this doing a
kmtune -l
- on 11.11, it shows Dynamic with a Yes/No parameter, on 11.00 it does not.
